Frequently asked questions
Find clear answers about surrogacy costs, requirements, matching, timelines, and the process for intended parents and surrogates.
FindSurrogate is an independent surrogacy matching platform that connects intended parents, surrogates, and agencies directly. It is not a surrogacy agency. Members create a free profile, browse verified profiles, and connect when they're ready.
No. FindSurrogate is not a traditional surrogacy agency. It is a matching platform that helps members explore profiles, compare options, and decide whether to connect directly or work with an agency.
Getting started is simple. Create a free profile, browse members based on your preferences, and save profiles that interest you. When you're ready to start a conversation, you can upgrade to contact members directly. Throughout the process, you decide who you connect with and whether you'd like to pursue an independent match or work with a surrogacy agency.
FindSurrogate helps surrogates, intended parents, and agencies connect directly and privately across the U.S. and Canada, including singles, couples, and LGBTQ+ families.
Full profiles, photos, and contact details are not fully public. Public visitors may see limited or blurred profile previews, while detailed profile information is available only to registered members.
Your safety comes first. Profiles are private by default, secure messaging keeps you in control, and identity verification adds an extra layer of trust. FindSurrogate is built around informed consent, discretion, and respect for autonomy, informed by ASRM recommendations.
Finding a match is an exciting milestone, but it's only the beginning of the journey. Before moving forward, intended parents and surrogates should discuss expectations, communication, compensation (where applicable), and other important details. Most matches then continue with medical screening, psychological evaluation, legal agreements, and coordination with a fertility clinic. We recommend working with experienced surrogacy professionals throughout this process.
No. FindSurrogate is an independent matching platform and does not provide legal, medical, financial, or psychological advice. Every surrogacy journey is different, and we encourage members to work with qualified reproductive attorneys, fertility clinics, mental health professionals, insurance specialists, and other experienced professionals before moving forward with a surrogacy arrangement.

FindSurrogate gives you the freedom to explore surrogacy on your own terms. Medical requirements vary somewhat between fertility clinics and agencies, but most follow the guidelines of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). In general, surrogates should be healthy adults who have had at least one full-term, uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery, are currently raising their own child, and meet the medical and psychological requirements of the fertility clinic they work with.
Surrogates who choose to verify their profile complete a secure identity verification process powered by Stripe Identity. Verified profiles receive a verification badge and increased visibility in search results, helping intended parents identify verified surrogates more easily. Verification is optional but recommended as an additional layer of trust.
Compensation varies depending on factors such as where the surrogate lives, whether it's a first or repeat journey, and the details of the arrangement. In addition to base compensation, many surrogates receive reimbursement for pregnancy-related expenses, lost wages (when applicable), travel, insurance costs, and other agreed-upon benefits. On FindSurrogate, you can discuss compensation directly with intended parents. If you decide to move forward together, we recommend working with experienced legal professionals to ensure all financial terms are clearly documented in your surrogacy agreement.
Not necessarily. Some health insurance plans include coverage for surrogate pregnancies, while others do not. If your current policy doesn't provide coverage, intended parents or their agency may arrange a separate surrogacy-friendly insurance policy. Insurance is usually reviewed before the medical process begins.
No. In a gestational surrogacy, the embryo is created through IVF using the intended parents' or donors' egg and sperm. The surrogate carries the pregnancy but is not genetically or biologically related to the baby.
